Meet Monica Manuel, MS, LPC (She/Her/Hers)

Monica Manuel is a psychotherapist, CEO, and Founder of Joie de Vivre Counseling and Therapy.

With a master’s degree in Professional Counseling and 14 years of clinical experience, Monica has worked in diverse settings, including private practices and university counseling centers.

Her postgraduate education includes doctoral training at Spelman College, Georgia State, and Georgia Tech Universities.

Areas of Expertise and Therapeutic Approach

Monica Manuel specializes in helping women transform their self-perception, intimate relationships, and overall life satisfaction. She believes in a collaborative approach, emphasizing “power with, rather than power over.” Monica assists clients in finding their voice, fostering self-love, and creating a life filled with passion and purpose.

For couples counseling, Monica addresses issues such as communication problems, repetitive conflicts, and emotional disconnection. She works with couples of diverse sex, gender, and relationship identities, utilizing the Gottman method, one of the most proven methods for couples’ therapy.

Monica’s holistic approach integrates techniques from Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy, Biofeedback, and Nature Therapy.

Influenced by Feminist and Strengths-Based modalities, she also draws on Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, and Attachment Theories. Her specialties include intimate relationships, partnership, marriage, and Generalized Anxiety Disorders.

Beyond the Office

Outside of her professional work, Monica enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures, hiking, cooking, gardening, and connecting with nature.

She is also a proud pet owner of two golden retrievers and a cat.
